Women today face a myriad of challenges including gender discrimination, unequal pay, gender-based violence, lack of representation and leadership roles, systemic sexism. These can all impact a woman’s opportunities and wellbeing. There is the constant strife to be the perfect wife, mother, daughter, or CEO. The pressure to meet cultural expectations or live by other peoples’ values can take its toll on a woman’s mental health. Stress, high anxiety, low self -esteem and depression are some of the mental health issues that are common in women. Many have the courage to seek help yet many more do not seek help for their poor mental health for fear of being labeled “mad”, losing their jobs or having have their children taken away from them. Despite the numerous awareness campaigns, stigma surrounding mental health still prevails and is the number one barrier to help seeking behavior. Confidence and self-esteem Good mental health fosters a positive self-image and confidence, enabling women to assert themselves in various aspects of life. Resilience Our modules will equip women with the skills to cope with challenges, setbacks and stress effectively allowing them to bounce back stronger. Decision Making Clarity of mind enables better decision making, empowering women to make choices that align with their values and goals. Healthy Relationships Good mental health fosters healthier relationships with oneself and with others leading to a more fulfilling personal and professional connections. Professional Success Mental well-being enhances focus, productivity and creativity contributing to success in careers and endeavors. Advocacy and Empowerment Women with good mental health are more likely to advocate for themselves and others driving positive change in their communities and beyond. Participants reported increased confidence, self-esteem and a sense of empowerment to pursue their goals and overcome challenges. This enrichment program provides opportunities to build relationships with other participants and professionals expanding their network and support system. In the near future, we believe participants may become advocates for themselves and others, promoting positive change within their organizations and communities.
