Construction of Covered Walkway for SMK Dato' Bijaya Setia, Sungai Petani

Students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato' Bijaya Setia have to endure the heat and rain when they arrive and leave the school while waiting for school buses and their parents to pick them up. Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani team up with the Parent-Teacher Association of the school (PIBG) to construct a covered walkway for the students. Having drawn up the plans and obtained the necessary approvals from the various authorities, the Principal Puan Chua Jock Cheng, PIBG President Sanmugam Ramaiah and Committee Members attended Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani meeting on 10 May 2023 to ink a Memorandum of Understanding on the construction and management of the walkway.

There will be advertisement spaces available for businesses to advertise on the structure which is along a major trunk road leading from Sungai Petani to Kuala Ketil. Details of this will be out soon. Contact [email protected].

Spectacles for Students

54 students in rural schools around Baling, Kedah are receiving their spectacles from Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani. 12 pairs were delivered yesterday on 7 May 2023.

Eye Screening Project with Lions Club of Sungai Petani

212 students from SJKT Somasundram, Sungai Tukang, Sungai Petani had their eyes checked for refraction errors in this joint project by Lions Club of Sungai Petani and Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani. The mobile unit from Lions Club of Alor Setar Host was called upon to perform the examinations.

38 students were identified as requiring spectacles. 14 students received spectacles from Lions Club and 12 received spectacles from Rotary Club.

Giving students a better environment to study in - SMK Dato Bijaya Setia

We sponsored 5 units of air conditioners to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato' Bijaya Setia, Sungai Petani. They were installed at Block A, which is located near the main road. Due to noise and dust pollution, the windows cannot be opened and students have no other options to relocate. Hence, those classes needed the air-conditioning.

Pertandingan Mewarna Kanak-Kanak Khas "Kami Anak Malaysia"

Seramai 61 orang peserta dari 19 sekolah dan pusat jagaan insan khas mengambil bahagian dalam pertanding mewarna yang diadakan di Amanjaya Mall, Sungai Petani pada 18 September 2022. YB Dr Robert Ling, Ahli EXCO Negeri Kedah hadir untuk bersama menyaksikan dan memberikan piala kepada pemenang. Beliau menaja pertandingan tersebut yang memberikan peluang untuk individu-individu khas menonjolkan bakat mereka bersama-sama menyambut Hari Malaysia penuh bersemangat. Sekalung budi kepada ibu-bapa, guru-guru dan petugas pusat jagaan yang meluangkan masa untuk membawa individu khas meyertai program berkenaan.

Presentation of Aid for Students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Aman

In addition to giving laptops, a projector, schools bags and stationery, the Micron Young Professionals have adopted the school and are tutoring the students in English, Mathematics and Science, carry out farming activities and mural-painting.

Rotarians Arvind, Koek Yee Jeen and Dr Parthiban joined them to present aid to the students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Aman, which is a fishing community.
