Help save the planet! Rotarians and Rotaractors from 5 Clubs lent a helping hand to the riverine mangrove forest on the banks of Sungai Merbok by planting 200 mangrove trees today. Rotary Clubs of Perlis, Alor Star, Kulim and Bandar Sungai Petani and Rotaract Club of AIMST University joined forces to restore the ecology of the mangrove. 30 members, including District 3300 Governor Dato' Bindi Rajasegaran and District 3300 Community Service Chair Tajul Haslam Datuk Tajuddin, departed Semeling Jetty by boat to the site along the Merbok River. Under the guidance of Kuala Muda Forestry officer, the mangroves were planted in a denuded area and crabs were released into the river. Environmental sustainability is one of Rotary's Area of Focus. Rotary hopes that this hands-on action will spark further awareness about sustaining our natural environment on our one and only earth for our future generations. ![]() ROTARY CLUB OF BANDAR SUNGAI PETANI FIGHT COVID |
