Donate to PolioPlus, the Rotary Foundation fund used specifically for polio eradication, supporting the Global Polio Eradication Initiative together with WHO, UNICEF and CDC. The only countries with ongoing infections are Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. It matters to us because polio can make a comeback if it is not fully eradicated globally.

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
August is MEMBERSHIP MONTH. I’m glad Rotary International placed the emphasis on Membership early in our Rotary year. I would like to suggest something different. This is the time we should remind ourselves to celebrate, enjoy Rotary and honour our members in our clubs. Every member is unique and important. Let us be thankful and grateful to them for their time, contributions and commitment to ROTARY. This way, can we attract more members into our prestigious organisation.
It’s a good time to begin thinking how each of us can do our part in sharing this wonderful organization with those who have not yet experience the joy of being a Rotarian. We learned in the past years that the two most significant reasons why people join Rotary is to form new friendships, and to do good things in their community. We should “ask” our family, friends and business associates if they would like to become involved in supporting our activities in the local and international community.
Shifting gears now, so far I have visited 8 of our Rotary clubs in our district. They are RC Pantai Valley, RC Mont Kiara Gateway, RC Greentown, RC Kamunting, RC Sitiawan, RC Ipoh, RC Central Damansara and RC Titiwangsa. I have been extremely impressed by the wonderful local and international projects that are now happening in our district. We have been helping the homeless, the hungry, and the needy. We have also been helping senior citizens and our youth. Internationally, our clubs are planning projects to purify water, help hospitals and medical clinics, provide sanitation, promote literacy, and fight hunger.
Sham and I are thankful and grateful for the excellent arrangements and hospitality of the clubs and their members. Our special thanks to AG Peter Gan, AG Datin Sandra, AG Francis, AG Duncan, AG Jaya Kuttan and AG Dr Pathepen.
LET US CONTINUE TO SERVE HUMANITY
Thank you and God bless you all.
Yours in ROTARY
Darul Abdullah
