Rotary members of Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani and Rotaract Club of AIMST University gathered at the home of The Rotary Foundation Chair Sanmugam's home for fellowship on 25 October to commemorate World Polio Day on 24 October. We learned more and raised funds for Rotary's effort to eradicate polio globally. We express our deepest appreciation to TRF Chair Sanmugam and spouse for hosting the event at their home.

World's Greatest Meal to End Polio raises more than USD10,000

In conjunction with World Polio Day and Deepavali on 24 October, Rotary International District 3300 shared a Deepavali fellowship meal on 2 November 2022. This was hosted by Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani at President Thiaggu Letchumanan's home. District Governor Dr Krishna Kumar and District First Lady PAG Pushpa attended in person after his official visit to the club.

A total of 80 Rotarians attended in person and on hybrid zoom.

World's Greatest Meal #3660 for Polio Eradication

The World's Greatest Meal is an ongoing project to raise funds for PolioPlus, an arm of The Rotary Foundation, which initiated the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Every USD raised is matched by USD2 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, tripling your contribution.

We are THIS CLOSE to ending polio globally. From 300,000 cases a year in 1988, so far this year, there have been only 5 cases of polio detected globally (i.e. in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the only two countries with polio cases.)

World's Greatest Meal to End Polio

Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani organised its second World's Greatest Meal of this Rotary year for PolioPlus. 11 Rotarians and friends had a meal together concurrently in Sungai Petani and Miami, Florida and raised USD 500 for Polio eradication efforts.

To date, Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani has raised USD 14,286.18 for Polio eradication.
