Event : Medical Camp
Date : 16 March 2013
Time : 8.00am to 1.00pm
Venue : Pasukan Bomba Sukarela Kuala Ketil Fire Station

Co-organisers and supporting organizations :-

Metro Specialist Hospital
R.E.D. Association, AIMST University
Baling Hospital Blood Bank
TOP (Tissue and Organ Procurement) Team, Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim
Pasukan Bomba Sukarela Kuala Ketil
Persatuan Kebajikan 1 Malaysia

The venue was provided by Pasukan Bomba Sukarela Kuala Ketil. Physical arrangement and pre-event publicity was managed by Persatuan Kebajikan 1 Malaysia, with the distribution of 1000 flyers to homes in Kuala Ketil and 5 banners at various locations in Kuala Ketil.

The medical checkup began at 8.00am, consisting of height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure and blood glucose check by Metro and AIMST teams followed by medical advice where necessary by AG Dato Dr Subramaniam and Rtn. Dr. Bernard Chan. The attendees were also given information about organ donation and some pledged their organs for donation. Some able-bodied attendees also gave blood at the mobile blood donation set-up at the fire station. All participants were given a cup of mineral water and also received a card bearing the Rotary Wheel and their check-up information as well as advice before they went on their way.

At the event, there was a patient who needed a wheelchair as he was paraplegic and currently using a dilapidated borrowed wheelchair. He was given a wheelchair on the spot, and he was very grateful for it. Rtn. Hendry and Mr. Kumar actually drove back to Sungai Petani to collect the wheelchair for him.

The medical camp ended with an enjoyable lunch at 1.00pm.

Total number of attendees : 179 (Male: 98 & Female: 81)
Blood collected : 16 units
Organ donation pledgers : 36
Wheelchair given out : 1

Many thanks to all parties for the outstanding support. We look forward to more successful camps in the future.
